Looking back at your preliminary task (the college magazine task), what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product?

From the preliminary task till now i have learnt a lot. My photoshop skills have improves with layering a lot better, for example the way i have placed things in my current one were a lot better, also the proportions of it is so much better. I experimented with photoshop rulers in my double page spread to prioritize where my writing would go, this was something i'd never seen before. Using editing tools which i had never used like converting to black and white tools. The progress is shown in the image above comparing my old cover (on the right) and my new one (on the left)

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Photoshop, Bogger and Flickr are examples of the programmes i have used to help make and present my work throughout this unit. There are dissadvantages about Blogger and Flickr as they are internet sources programmes where they can prove unreiable as networks don't always work and it is very easy to lose work and having to re-do it becoes diffucult. Using these programmes has taught me a lot For example i have never used blogger or flickr before this unit in my life, now i have learnt how to upload images, tag photographs, and comments etc... With photshop i have learnt to create boxes and experiment with layers like i have never tried before so in this aspects some programmes have been a giant advantage instead!

How did you attract/address your audience?

My music magzine speaks in a friendly inforaml way so that the magazine seems more appealing a friendly to it's audiance. People are attracted also to the style of a magazine, mine in which case is styled around rap and it's culture so i have chosen similar colours to other magazines that are simlar consisting of red black and white. I think this works well, and goes well with what i my taret audiance wanted. Aspects such as more photos than words, etc etc...

Who would be the audience for your media product?

Searching the internet, these are the style of people i have aimed my magazine. Hip/Hop Rap R&B style of music. Typically stereotyping this style of clothing and accessories. Within my my magazine i would use means of advertisements for products such as clothing, watches, perfumes/aftershaves cd's all the sorts of things associated with rap styling.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

Looking at some typical rap magazines like 'XXL' these are published my 'Harris Publications' who are a US publication company in New York City. They publish certain magazines obviously unknown to us british, these include: XXL which i've looked at a lot in reasearch, King, Dog, Small Buisness Oppertunities, Men's Workout, Exercise & Health, Celebrity Hairstyles and whole lot more. They also have seperate publishing called Harris Outdoor Magazines which is a whole different thing concentrating on sports such as fishing hunting and guns. A lot of the other rap style magazines are published by there own companies from what i can tell in the US and there aren't many english based. Therefore I imagine a publication such as Harris Publications would be the way to go with my magazine.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

My music magazine represents a particular social group or stereo type because of it's design. It is all based around rap music, style and culture therefore evidently represents, or is aimed at that type of stereostype. Obviously a young girl wouldn't pick up this magazine and think to read it, because it's not covered in pink flowers and taylor swift. There are different photographs throughout the magazine sections where the posture of models change as does their expression which changes the mood. Sometimes the models look friendly other times mildly agressive. I have aimed for the more agressive type of magazine because it filters in better with my target audiance. This magazine is not really a mainstream style it's more hoody and rap throughout with related gossip, photo's and stories to relate. It represents the stereotype i'm aiming at as perhaps slightly agressive people, however reading the interviews and seeing the photo's inside suggest otherwise.
